14 Easter Centers for Kindergarten (with 2 Freebies!)

Do your kiddos LOVE Easter as much as mine? Easter manipulatives make it super easy to make hands-on Easter centers that support fine motor, literacy and math skills development!

Read on for some of my favourite ways to incorporate Easter into the Kindergarten classroom and make practicing literacy and math skills extra fun!

1. Fine Motor: Trace and Colour the Easter Eggs

Easter Centers

This is a simple yet fun center that encourages students to practice their pencil skills in an engaging way! Students simply choose markers to trace the Easter eggs and their designs however they like. They can even make their own design on the blank egg!

All of the centres shown in this post (that are not freebies) can be found in my “Easter Kindergarten Centres: Literacy, Math, Fine Motor and More!” pack on TPT here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Kindergarten-Easter-Centres-Literacy-Math-Fine-Motor-More-13230441

2. Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt Alphabet Center

A fun twist on the traditional egg hunt! You can put the printable eggs in a bin (like I did, I printed them at 50% to make them smaller so they would all fit in my bin) with some Easter grass or you could tape them around the room for students to find!

There is an uppercase version, lowercase version and a beginning sound image version for the eggs.

And an uppercase and lowercase tracing mat and recording sheets! Lots of options so you can easily differentiate for the different abilities in your class😉

3. Easter Build & Trace

Easter Build and Trace Literacy Center

One of the most popular centres every time we switch seasonal/holiday activities! Students simply follow the mats to create the Easter objects and then trace the word at the bottom of the page. Snap cubes are great for strengthening finger muscles and the students LOVE them!

4. Easter Words Dab & Read (Letters + Digraph)

Easter Dab and Read Literacy Center

This one’s also a staple in my seasonal/holiday centre rotation! Have students practice letter formation without a pencil with these fun bingo dabber sheets! They can also be used with circle stamps and dot stickers but my classes never get tired of the bingo dabbers!

Easter Dab and Trace or Write Digraph CH

I also included the digraph “ch” in case you have taught this already and wanted to add it to the centre! 2 versions included!

5. Easter Words Chart + Mini Book

Easter Word Chart and Mini Book

Another staple in my centre rotation is seasonal/thematic word charts and mini books! Students can use the word charts to practice drawing and labeling Easter words on blank paper or white boards and the mini book can be used to practice pencil skills! 3 versions are included for the mini book to make differentiating for the different needs in your class easy🤍

6. CVC Crack, Read and Record (Freebie!)

CVC Crack, Read and Record Center

My classes and my own kiddos love centres when I hide things in Easter eggs and CVC words was a skill many of you requested for spring/summer centres so here’s a simple centre using Easter eggs!

Simply put the words inside the eggs (I printed on regular paper and just folded them half, you can totally just write them on scrap paper too!) and put the eggs in a bin with some Easter grass. Then set them out with the recording sheet and have students crack the egg, read the word, find the matching image and write the word beside it.

There are 5 different recording sheets. The one shown above, one with handwriting lines, one with traceable words, one with traceable words on handwriting lines and one with pictures to circle for the students who are not ready for tracing/printing letters yet. Please choose the one(s) that best fit the needs of your class!

7. Easter Basket Trace & Fill

Easter Trace and Make Easter Eggs Number Sense Center

These are another staple and an simple but hands-on way to practice number formation and 1:1 correspondance! I set these out with small pom poms and play dough and had my kids trace the numbers and add that many “Easter Eggs” to each basket.

8. Decorate an Easter Egg

Decorate an Egg Easter Number Sense Center 2

This is another centre that’s always a hit! And the repeated nature makes it easy for students to understand what to do and get started right away😉

Students simply pick 3 cards, place them on the light gray spaces and use the manipulatives to decorate their egg.

Don’t have holiday themed loose parts to do the centre above? I included a version you can do with pattern blocks instead too, just in case!

9. Easter Egg Race to Fill (Addition + Subtraction)

I found these egg holders at Dollar Tree so I picked them up and made up a game for practicing addition and subtraction! I simply set them out with a basket of Easter eggs and a wooden block (I put +1, +2, +3, +3, -1 and -2 on the sides with a pen). Then I demonstrated how to play whole group with a student volunteer, taking turns rolling the dice and adding or subtracting that many eggs from the tray. The first person who fills their tray is the winner! My last class in particular loved partner games so this one was a hit!

10. Easter Fruit Snack Sorting

Easter Fruit Snacks Sorting Freebie

I made a sort and record for the Halloween fruit snacks (you can find that freebie in this blog) and I had several requests to make a Easter version so here it is! There is also an addition version in case simply sorting and printing is too easy for some of your kiddos. You can download this printable from my TPT store here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Easter-Fruit-Snacks-Freebie-Number-Formation-Sorting-and-Addition-11223085

11. Easter Egg Patterning

Patterning with Easter Eggs Math Center

What Easter loving kid doesn’t like Easter eggs? I made these Easter egg strips so the students can grab a strip and copy the pattern in an egg carton. If you choose to, you can have students record their patterns on the recording sheet, but I like to just let them copy and create for this centre🤍

12. Easter Measure & Record

This one’s another staple activity in my seasonal and holiday packs and so many of you have told me that your students LOVE this one. It’s a simple but hands on way to practice non-standard measurement, 1:1 correspondance and writing numbers🤍

13. Roll & Fill/Add (So Many Options!)

This is a simple centre with a lot of options! Roll & Fill can be used with any small manipulative. Students simply roll the dice and fill the egg with that many manipulatives. For the paper version there is dab, stick or draw. Please choose the one that you think your students would like best!

And here’s the addition version for the kiddos who are ready! Same idea, but the kids roll twice and then place the manipulatives in the egg to help them solve the addition sentence. There is also a dab, stick and draw version for this one as well!

Again all of the centres shown in this pack (other than the freebie) can be found in this “Kindergarten Easter Centres: Literacy, Math, Fine Motor and More” by clicking here or on the image below:

14. Easter STEM: Build a House for the Easter Bunny!

Easter STEM Build a house for the Easter Bunny

Here’s another simple but fun invitation that the kids loved! Can you make a house for the Easter Bunny? Simply set out a bunny stuffy and some Easter eggs (or whatever else you like) with your building materials and have the students go to work! This is such a fun one that allows them to showcase their creativity and build their teamwork skills!

Bonus: An Easy Class Egg Hunt Idea!

Simple Class Easter Hunt Idea 1

I saw this idea on the Ontario Kindergarten Teachers facebook group (I can’t remember exactly who posted it.. if it was you let me know so I can give you credit!) and thought it was a easy, cheap way to have a little Easter fun!

All I did was grab plastic Easter eggs (I had a bunch lying around from over buying last year), put a chocolate egg and an Easter sticker inside, tape the egg shut and write a short message on the sticker label and stick it on the Easter egg!  I wrote their name on each one so they could only hunt for their Easter egg!

I wrote “Dear ____, Hope you have a great Easter long weekend! Love, Miss Naka” on the sticker label.  If you are more organized then me and you are not making these the morning of, you could also type and print them onto the sticker label!

Simple Class Easter Hunt Idea 2

My kids that year had gym period 9 so I “hid” the eggs around the room while they were out of the classroom. When they came back I asked them to sit on the carpet and told them we were having a small Easter egg hunt before home time. I told them that there was an egg for each student so to only take the egg with their name on it. Then I also put out their mail bags on a table so they could grab their mail bags after they found their eggs and start getting ready for home. We reviewed classroom rules (no running, no screaming etc.) and then I let them hunt for their eggs!

I loved how quick and fun it was for the kids!

I hope you found a few ideas that will help make your planning for Easter themed activities easier!
