Alphabet Match & Stack | Letter Recognition & Beginning Sounds Centre

Turn alphabet practice into a hands-on cup-stacking challenge with this Alphabet Match and Stack Centre!

Students select the labelled cups and stack them to recreate the arrangement shown on a challenge card. Choose from uppercase letters, lowercase letters or beginning-sound pictures to practise different early literacy skills.

With five alphabet sets and 64 differentiated recording sheets, this activity can be adapted for learners working at a wide range of levels.

How to prepare:

Print the cup labels and coordinating stacking cards. Cut out the labels and attach them to plastic or paper cups using tape.

I used 9 oz. plastic cups, but other cups of a similar size can also be used.

For easy organization, try printing each set on a different colour of paper.

Laminate the cards if desired, then store each set with its corresponding cups.
