Make seasonal and holiday literacy centres easy to differentiate with these engaging Write the Room, Trace the Room and Colour the Room activities for Kindergarten!

Students move around the classroom searching for vocabulary cards, then colour pictures, trace words or record the words on their recording sheet. With several options for every theme, you can use the same activity with children at a wide range of fine motor, printing and early literacy levels.

This resource includes 17 seasonal and holiday themes, two Christmas sets, 144 vocabulary picture cards and differentiated recording sheets for use throughout the school year.

  • Write the Room: Students find each card and copy the word beside the matching picture.
  • Handwriting-line options: Provide additional support for students developing letter formation and control.

How to Prepare:

  1. Print and cut the vocabulary cards.
  2. Laminate the cards for durability, if desired.
  3. Place or tape the cards around the classroom.
  4. Select the recording sheet that best meets your students’ needs.
  5. Add the sheets to clipboards and invite students to search for the cards!

You can also print Trace the Room and Write the Room back-to-back so students can independently choose the option that is right for them.
