How to play:

Students select a word card and decode the CVC word. They find the picture representing the word and use a plastic linking chain to connect the matching cards.

Students can work with one short vowel at a time or practise discriminating between all five short-vowel sounds by using a mixed selection of cards.

Preparation:

Print your preferred colour or black-and-white set. Cut out and laminate the cards, then punch a hole in the circle on each card. Add plastic linking chains and the centre is ready to use!
