All About St. Patrick’s Day
Use these introductory slides to teach students facts about St. Patrick’s Day and introduce common St. Patrick’s Day symbols.

 

ST. PATRICK’S DAY LITERACY ACTIVITIES:

St. Patrick’s Day Letter Building
Students watch the animated demonstration to see how each letter is formed and then use the St. Patrick’s Day pictures to build the letter. They can also practise reading the simple sentence on each slide.
Letters included: L, G, H, F and R

Rhyming Rainbows
Students name the picture on one cloud and drag the rhyming picture onto the other cloud.
Includes 5 slides.

St. Patrick’s Day Beginning Sounds
Students name each picture, identify its beginning sound and drag the correct letter tile into the blank.
Includes 9 St. Patrick’s Day words.

Read, Find and Build
Students read the high-frequency word and use the shamrock letters to build it.
Words included: a, I, the, like, see, can, this, is, we, to, my, me, be, with, play, little, where, said, up, love, you, in and and

Read and Cover
Students read the simple sentence, tap the dots as they read each word and cover the picture that matches the sentence with the green counter.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY MATH ACTIVITIES:

Shamrock Counting
Students use shamrocks and other representations to explore numbers 1–10.
For numbers 1–5, students identify and drag the representations that match the focus number into the box.
For numbers 6–10, students use the squares to fill in the missing part and complete the number-composing sentence.

St. Patrick’s Day Sorting
Students sort St. Patrick’s Day pictures by:

  • Colour: green or yellow
  • Size: small or big

Sort and Classify
Students sort the objects into two groups and move the checkmark to show whether they sorted the objects by colour, shape or size.

St. Patrick’s Day Patterns
Students identify and extend each pattern by dragging the correct St. Patrick’s Day pictures onto the line.
Patterns included: AB, ABB, AAB and ABC

Create a St. Patrick’s Day Pattern
Students use the movable St. Patrick’s Day pictures to create their own repeating pattern.

St. Patrick’s Day Measurement
Students measure each St. Patrick’s Day picture using the digital non-standard measurement tool provided. They then type the measurement into the box to complete the sentence.

Includes 5 measurement activities:

  • Measure the leprechaun with shamrocks
  • Measure the horseshoe with green counting bears
  • Measure the shamrock with green linking chains
  • Measure the leprechaun’s shoe with shamrocks
  • Measure the flag with green cubes
