Designed for Authentic Kindergarten Assessment
The possible look-fors are examples, not additional curriculum expectations or a checklist of skills every child must demonstrate.
Children may reveal their learning through words, actions, gestures, play, movement, drawings, models, home languages, assistive communication and interactions with others. The documentation pages include space to record what the child said, did, created or communicated, as well as the context in which the learning occurred.
A blank checklist space means “not yet documented.” It does not mean that a child is unable to demonstrate the learning. Educators can use dates, checkmarks or their own coding system to keep track of collected evidence.
This resource can help you…
- keep curriculum expectations accessible during the school day
- focus observations during play and inquiry
- identify gaps in whole-class documentation
- gather evidence for Initial Observations, Term 1 and Term 2
- organize notes for report card writing
- share assessment responsibilities with your teaching partner
- document learning in a flexible and inclusive way
Editable File Information
The editable PowerPoint files allow you to add student names, customize headings and adapt the organizational pages to suit your classroom. The original curriculum expectation wording should remain unchanged.
The Google Docs versions provide a digital option for organizing reporting-period notes, with one tab for each student.
