CVC Word Building Mats | Magnetic Letter Phonics Centre & Self-Check

Help your Kindergarten students practise CVC word segmentation, spelling and encoding with this engaging, hands-on phonics centre!

Students name the picture, stretch out the word and place magnetic letters or other alphabet manipulatives in the three boxes to build it. They then use a magnifying glass to reveal the tiny word in the corner and independently check their spelling.

The CVC Build & Magnify activity includes 66 short-vowel words in both colour and black-and-white formats.

How to use:

1. Print, cut and laminate the CVC word-building cards.
2. Students name the picture shown on the card.
3. They stretch out the word and identify its three sounds.
4. Students place magnetic letters, letter tiles or another alphabet manipulative in the boxes to build the word.
5. They use a magnifying glass to read the tiny word in the top corner.
6. Students compare the answer to the word they built and make any necessary changes.

Magnetic letters, alphabet manipulatives and magnifying glasses are not included.
